1 1/2 cups Bisquick baking mix
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup milk or water
2 tablespoons shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla

Topping:
Mix 1/2 cup flaked coconut
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped nuts
3 tablespoons margarine or butter, softened
2 tablespoons milk

Directions:
Directions:
Grease and flour square pan 8" x 8" or 9" round pan. Beat all ingredients except Topping on low speed for 30 seconds, scaping bowl constantly.Beat on medium speed for 4 minutes, scaping bowl occasionally. Pour into pan.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes at 350º or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool slightly; spread with Topping.
Set oven control to broil. Broil cake with top 3 inches from heat about 3 minutes
or until Topping is golden brown.
