3/4 cup sifted flour
1 cup sugar
5 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup soft shortening (or butter!)
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup walnuts (optional)
baking spray

Measure all ingredients and mix together. Prepare an 8x8" pan with baking spray and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

These brownies are dense and chewy because they contain very little flour. There is also no melting of baking chocolate, so they take very little time to prepare. But, oh, are they good!

If you're gluten-intolerant (like I am), just substitute spelt flour -- they're still delicious!
