2 C. Sugar
2/3 C. Margarine
1 tsp. Ground Cloves
2 C. Hot Water
2 C. Raisins
1 tsp. Nutmeg
2 tsp. Cinnamon

2 tsp. Soda
1 tbsp. Cold Water

4 C. Flour
1 C. Nuts (if desired)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix the first 7 ingredients in a pan. Boil these for
3 min. Then dissolve the soda in the cold water and add to the ingredients in the pan.
Allow this mixture to cool.

Then add Flour and nuts.

Bake in a 350 degree oven until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the center.

Grandpa Bob often would make this at Christmas time when our children were young. They did not like fruit cake but they enjoyed this!
