Ingredients:
2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 tbsp. butter
1 c. fresh milk
pinch of salt
vanilla to taste
1 tbsp. corn syrup

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together sugar, cocoa, and salt. Then add milk and butter and boil slowly (about 15 minutes), stirring the while, until it forms a soft ball when farmed in cold water.

Remove from fire, add vanilla and corn syrup, then cool 3 minutes. Beat until stiff and pour into buttered pan.

Brandi's Tip: As soon as mix it starts to stiffen, pour into pan...FAST!

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This recipe is also from Grandma Bowes' recipe box. It took me 3 (yes, 3) tries to get this recipe right! The first time it didn't seem to want to set; the second time, it set too quickly (i.e. when I was pouring it out of the pot into the pan); and finally, the third time it was perfect.

This is a perfect treat to serve with coffee or tea.
