Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 (.24-ounce) package active dry yeast (2 1/2 teaspoons)
1/4 cup lukewarm water
2 cups chicken broth (or any flavor broth)
2 tablespoons vegetable or olive oil
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup powdered milk
2 tablespoons dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup rye flour
1/2 cup rice flour
1 cup cracked wheat
1 large egg mixed with 1 tablespoon milk for glaze

Directions:
Directions:
1) In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Add the broth, oil, cheese, powdered milk, and herbs.
2) Gradually stir in the flours and cracked wheat. (If needed, add enough wheat flour to form a stiff dough.)
3) Transfer dough to a floured work surface and knead until smooth, about 3 to 5 minutes. Shape the dough into a ball and roll to 1/2" thickness. Cut into desired shapes and place on ungreased baking sheets.
4) Bake at 325°F for 45 minutes. Remove from oven. Brush the treats on both sides with the glaze mixture. Bake for an additional 30 minutes. Cool on wire racks.

Personal Notes:
Type of broth can vary- my dogs prefer vegetable broth treats. If you don't have rice or rye flour you can substitute additional wheat flour; however, the treats may be slightly more crumbly- add extra broth as needed to make a dough that will roll without sticking to the rolling pin.
