1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 tesp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1 tesp. baking powder
1 tesp. baking soda
1/2 tesp. salt
2 cups apples chopped
1/2 cup nuts chopped
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 tesp. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven 350 degree.
Grease and flour 9x5x3 loaf pan.
Mix sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt, mix until smooth. Stir in apples and nuts, spread in pan. Mix sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle over batter. Bake 50-60 minutes until wooden tooth pick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from pan cool on wire rack.
