2¼ cups all purpose flour
(I used whole wheat flour)
½ cup sugar
1½ teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon ground cloves
½ teaspoon nutmeg
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt

Directions:
Directions:
Empty 1 small container of Shortening and 1 small container
of molasses into a big bowl, add 1 large egg and use mixer at low speed. Add large container of dry mix ingredients and continue to mix
until well mixed. Cover and
refrigerate for 1hour.
Preheat oven to 350. On lightly
floured surface with floured rolling pin, roll dough 1/8" thick. With
cutter, cut out gingerbread men. Place cutouts ½ in. apart on cookie
sheets. Reroll trimmings and cut. Bake 8 minutes or until browned. With pancake turner place cookies on rack. Paint cookies with glaze made with icing sugar & water. Dry before storing.
