1 lb. (approx.) top round beef, cubed
flour
salt and pepper
Adolph's unflavored meat tenderizer
accent (monosudium glutamate, optional)
4 T butter
1 onion, chopped large
kitchen bouquet (or gravy master)
water
5 or 6 carrots, sliced
3 potatoes, peeled and cubed
2 or 3 peeled whole onions (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
1- Sprinkle salt, pepper, tenderizer and accent on beef cubes. Dust cubes completely with flour.

2- Brown cubes in melted butter (NOT burnt) in medium size kettle (or dutch oven) with chopped onions. Brown all sides of meat, scraping pan often.

3- Add enough water to cover meat, plus a few inches. Add 1 T. kitchen bouquet. Add few sprinkles of salt and pepper, to taste.

4- Add whole onions then simmer for about 1 hour.

5-Add sliced carrots, bring back to simmer, and continue simmering about 1/2 hour or so.

6-Add cubed potatoes and simmer another 30 minutes, until potatoes and carrots are tender.

Always loved the smell of Mom's simmering beef stew in the kitchen, especially on cold winter afternoons. Delicious served with biscuits.
