"Down the Camp" Barbecue Sauce Recipe

1/4 cup Wesson oil
1 whole diced onion
salt and pepper to taste
4 T. Worcestershire sauce
4 T. lemon juice
4 T. vinegar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 t. prepared mustard
1 16 oz. tomato sauce
1/4 cup ketchup

Directions:
Directions:
Saute onions in oil until soft. Sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper while cooking. Add tomato sauce and other ingredients and simmer on low for 30 minutes or so. After chicken (or ribs) have cooked a bit on the grille, brush with generous amount of barbecue sauce and finish cooking until lightly crispy and thoroughly cooked.

Everyone always loved Mom's barbecued chicken! I remember the delicious aroma while it cooked on Dad's big round charcoal grille! Then she sometimes made it on their Hibachi. In more 'modern times' she made it on their gas grille. She also used this sauce on spare-ribs. Always a favorite with her foil-wrapped potatoes and onions on the grille, too!
