"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Personal Notes:
This is a recipe from the 1960 Band Boosters Cookbook submitted by Mrs. B. H Body, Julie's grandmother. Sue Fischer talks about visiting Julie's grandmother when she was young. She had a screened in porch on her house, and Sue thought she must be really rich. Sue loved that porch and always wanted one like it. Julie and her sister, Kathy, both say they have lovely memories of that porch too. .
