2½ cups sifted cake flour
1-⅔ cups sugar
3/4 cup milk
2/3 cup Crisco
1 tsp. salt
3½ tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup milk
3 eggs
1½ tsp. vanilla


Frosting
3 egg whites
2¼ cups sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 cup water
1 tbsp. Karo syrup
1½ tsp. vanilla
2 cups parched peanuts, ground

Directions:
Directions:
Mix cake flour, sugar, milk, Crisco and salt. Beat well. Stir in baking powder, milk, eggs and vanilla. Mix thoroughly by hand or mixer. Cook at 350 degrees in cake pans. Cook about 30 minutes or till done. You can use yellow cake mix. If so, make by directions on box.

Frosting: Combine egg whites, sugar, salt, water, and Karo in top of double broiler. Beat about 1 minute to mix well. Place over boiling water and beat constantly on high speed for 7 minutes, stirring up from bottom occasionally. Remove from water. Add vanilla. Beat 1 minute. Spread on cake. Sprinkle on ground peanuts.
