Personal Notes:
I found this recipe, just a few days ago, written in the back of an old recipe book, my Mother Vera Rauer gave to me when I was first married, way over 50 years ago. The ink is faded. I am sure this is the original recipe, always made to serve with soup, by my Mother and my Grandmother Connie Rauer. Our family was told Grandpa John Rauer's mother brought this recipe with her from Austria. We didn't know the proper spelling, but called the small dumpling-like delights, RIVELTIES. This is close to, but slightly different from other recipes, sometimes called Rivel Dumplings, I have seen in print. This one does not include milk. Different members of the family probably slightly changed the recipe, as they experimented with it. I had searched for the recipe, as Mother made it, for a long time, and feel peaceful and happy to have found it.
