Cook 1 cup instant Grits according to directions, then:

Make cheese sauce:
4 Tbsp melted butter
2 Tbsp flour
1 1/2 cup milk
1/2 lb. cheese (I usually use less)
Chopped green pepper (if desired)

Directions:

Mix grits, cheese sauce, & chopped green pepper. Pour into buttered casserole.

Bake 1 hour at 350o.

May be made several days ahead of time.

This recipe is flavorful and tasty and is from a friend and neighbor when we lived in Huntsville AL. We use to make it every holiday. In the South they say, "If you didn't want grits, why did you order breakfast."
