1/2 cup butter or Crisco, melted
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
2 1/2 cup sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 cup dark molasses
1 cup hot water
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp ginger

Directions:
Directions:
Let butter or shortening cool a little. Add baking soda to hot water. Whisk sugar and egg into butter/shortening. Mix in molasses, salt, flour and baking soda/water. Bake in a 9x9 baking dish at 350º until done, approximately 40-45 minutes.
