Cream Filling:
1/3 c sugar
2 Tbsp corn starch
1/8 tsp salt
1 1/2 Milk
2 egg yolks slightly beaten
2 tsp vanilla
Chocolate Glaze:
2 oz unsweetened chocolate,
3 Tbsp butter,
1 cup confectioners sugar,
3/4 tsp vanilla
Dinette Cake:
1 1/2 Cups cake flour or 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup milk
1/3 cup shortening
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Bake Dinette Cake in round layer pan 9X1 1/2 round and cool
Split cake to make 2 thin layers
Fill layers with cream filling
Spread top with chocolate glaze
Refrigerate any remaining cake
*Cream Filling:
1/3 c sugar
2 Tbsp corn starch
1/8 tsp salt
1 1/2 Milk
2 egg yolks slightly beaten
2 tsp vanilla
Blend sugar, cornstarch and salt in med pan. Combine milk and egg yolks, gradually stir into sugar mixture
Cook over Med meat stirring constantly until thick and boiling
Boil and stir 1 min Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and cool to room temperature.
*Chocolate Glaze:
Melt 2oz unsweetened chocolate & 3 Tbsp butter or margarine over low heat. Remove from heat; Stir in 1 cup confectioners sugar and 3/4 tsp vanilla. Mix in 2 Tbsp hot water, until glaze is of proper consistency.
*Dinette Cake:
Heat oven 350º. Grease and flour pan 8x8x2 or 9x9x2. Add all ingredients into large bowl and mix on low speed1/2 min scraping constantly. Beat 3 min high speed, pour into pan. Bake 35-40 min or until wooden toothpick comes out clean. Cool.
