1/4 c. warm water
1/2 c. shortening
1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 t. salt

Directions:
Add water to yeast. Let stand 10 min. Scald
milk and pour over shortening in large mixing bowl. Add sugar and salt to hot milk. Cool to lukewarm. Add yeast, beaten egg and flour. Make a soft dough and knead lightly. Avoid using too much flour. Put in well greased bowl and put in refrigerator until next day. Set dough out to warm. Divide dough in three parts. Roll out each third to fit a medium sized cake sheet pan. Put one layer on greased pan and spread on half of filling. Put on another layer of dough and press down edges. Put remaining filling on and add third layer of dough. Pinch edges down. Leaving a 1 inch strip down the center, cut 1 1/2 inch layers from center strip to side of pan on both sides. Lift each strip and twist 1/4 turn so that filling is up. Let rise about one hour and bake at 350º for 22-25 min. Drizzle with powdered sugar icing just after taking from oven.
