1/2 c butter
1/4 c firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg separated
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 c all purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 can vanilla or cream cheese frosting.
m&m's peanut candies.

Directions:
Directions:
Blend butter and sugar in a bowl.
Stir in egg yolk and vanilla.
Sift flour and salt into bowl and mix well.
Chill 1 hour.
Roll dough into 1 inch balls.
Dip balls into slightly beaten egg white, then roll in nuts.
Place 1 inch apart on a cookie sheet.
Bake at 350º for 5 minutes, then press thumb gently in center of each cookie and bake 5 minutes longer.
Cool completely. Fill each cookie with frosting and then garnish with m &m's

This is a favorite cookie recipe in my family. My Grandma would make these every Christmas using the holiday m&m's.
You will get 2 dozen cookies if you make 1 inch balls. I almost always double the recipe, because they get eaten so quickly!
