Personal Notes:
Grandma Caroline often made this---wonder if Grandpa Nels needed "relief" ? I really can not imagine serving this for dessert but with the butter and cream--how could it be bad??? I make a variation of this and serve it on oatmeal as we all know oatmeal needs some help!! When I was in Norway I saw herring all the time (never thought I would get tired of it) and the prunes were on the breakfast buffet---but not as pudding. Sometimes Grandma Caroline mixed the prune pudding with tapoica. Grandma Caroline was a pretty good cook but my mom was better because she put butter and cream on everything--chicken--creamed vegetables cinnamon rolls etc.--wonder why I like butter and cream so much???
