!/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 jumbo egg
1/2 t. vanilla
!/2 t. cinnamon
1/2 t salt
1/4 t. baking soda
2 1/4 cups flour
1/4 pound finely chopped dates,( pits removed)
1/2 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts

Directions:

Cream the butter and brown sugar together in a mixing bowl until smooth. Add the egg, beating well. Stir in vanilla. Mix the cinnamon, salt , baking soda, and flour together and then add to first part. Stir in nuts and dates. Mix well and form into large log shape with hands and wrap in plastic wrap and chill till firm. Slice thinly and bake at 350º till nicely browned. About 15 min.

I usually take part of the flour and put it in my food processor with the dates. Process till dates are chopped.
