1 c. sugar
1 stick butter, melted
2 egg yolks, beaten
2 1/2 to 3 c. flour
2 heaping tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. lemon extract
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all ingredients and cool. Pinch off a small amount of dough and roll into a log. Make a knot or figure 8 shape. Place baking sheet on a lower rack in a preheated 450º oven for 7 to 10 minutes until the kringla rises, then move to a slightly higher rack until the kringla are lightly browned. Cool on a rack, then store in a container unless consumed immediately, which is the most likely thing to happen!

Ruby spent her adult life cooking -- for her family, at a restaurant and for the school district in Marengo, Iowa. This recipe was printed with others in an article about Ruby in the local newspaper when she was in her early 70s. She lived to be 90.
