2 1/4 cups sifted flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon milk

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375º.

2. Sift flour, salt, and baking powder together.

3. Cream shortening together; add eggs and vanilla, then add sifted ingredients and milk.

4. Roll out 1/4-inch thick on floured surface; cut, and sprinkle with sugar. Bake on greased cookie sheets for 10-12 minutes.

*Can put covered dough in fridge a little while, if too soft to roll.
*I bake on ungreased, parchment-lined cookie sheets.
I remember one time Dad baked these and accidentally used baking soda for the baking powder...they were effervescent, like Alka Seltzer.
