Ingredients: |
Ingredients: Steak for 2 (easier sliced in thin strips when partially frozen). 1 Large Onion or Leek, 6 cloves garlic, 1 Red Pepper and/or Mushrooms (optional). Asian Sauces. 1/2 cup Beef broth. Grapeseed oil and sesame oil. Lettuce or Fresh Shanghai or Udon Noodles.

Directions:Pan sear the bite-sized strips of steak in a cast iron pan with some oil. When the steak is 3/4 done add the onion (leek) chunks, minced garlic, chunks of red pepper and/or slices of mushrooms. Cook until onions are translucent. Add a splash of sesame oil, the beef broth and 1 cup of Asian sauce. Simmer, reducing the liquid. Meanwhile, saute the fresh noodles in another pan with oil and a splash of sesame oil for 2 minutes. Add the noodles to the meat and cook for 5 more minutes while the noodles absorb the liquid. A variation without the noodles would be to serve the meat mixture in a common bowl and with chop sticks add the meat in bite size pieces to a leaf of lettuce. Add any condiments and roll up the leaf like a miniature taco. |

Notes: We really enjoy Asian foods, but it is often hard to duplicate the spices so that it seems authentic. This recipe is pretty fool-proof as long as you have access to bottles of pre-made Asian Sauces. We have made this with "Taste of Shanghai, Taste of Korea, Taste of Japan, and Taste of Bangkok" Sauces. All of which have an authentic Asian taste. The Korean lettuce wrap is a typical way meat is served in Korea.
