Frosting: Cream until fluffy
2(3 ounce) cream cheese
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp peppermint extract
Measure:
6 cups(1 1/2 pounds) sifted powdered sugar
Blend half of sugar into creamed cheese mixture.
Add:
1/4 cup hot water alternating with balance of sugar
Blend in:
4 (4ounce) squares of chocolate, melted.
Reserve 1/2 mixture (2cups) to use as frosting for the cake.

Cake: Sift together 2 1/2 cups flour, 1 1/2 tsp soda, 1 tsp salt.
Combine 1/4cup shortening and remaining frosting, mix thoroughly,
Blend in 3 eggs, on at a time.
Measure 3/4 cup milk, add alternating with sifted dry ingredients. Beginning as ending with dry ingredient.
Pour into 2 well greased and floured 9 inch pans.
Bake in 350º oven for 30-35 minutes.
Cool, frost with reserved frosting.
