1/2 c.(1 stick) softened butter
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg yolk (well beaten)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. all purpose flour (sifted)
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg white (unbeaten)
1 c. crushed walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees -
Cream together butter and sugar, beat in egg yolk and vanilla. Blend in flour and salt and shape into 1 inch balls. Dip each ball into egg white, roll in nuts, place on ungreased baking sheet. Make a thumb dent in center of each cookie and backe for 5 minutes. Remove from oven and dent again, bake for an additional 12 to 15 minutes and cool.
Fill with tinted butter frosting or jam.
