1 pound navy beans,
7 cups water,
2 cooked ham slices cut into cubes,
1 pound baby carrots,
2 cans stewed tomatoes,
1/8 cups minced onions,
1/4 tsp. salt,
1 bay leaf,
dash pepper,

Directions:
Directions:
Put beans in a large pot and cover with water. Let stand overnight or for several hours to soften beans.
Rinse beans and cover wit 7 cups fresh water.
Boil gently for 2 minutes.
Add remaining ingredients.
Heat to boiling.
Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 2 hours or until the beans are soft.
Skim off foam and add more water if necessary.
