5 cups flour
5 tsp baking powder

6 eggs
3/4 cup vegetable oil or melted Crisco
2/3 cup sugar
2 tsp almond extract
2 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º and grease cookie sheets.

Combine flour and baking powder and make a nest.
Into the nest, add the remaining ingredients IN ORDER. Hand beat the wet ingredients in the center of the flour nest. After wet ingredients are blended, start incorporating the flour into the mixture. Knead mixture lightly until smooth.

Roll dough into ropes about the thickness of a pinky finger. Cut into 5 inch pieces and tie into loose knots. Place the cookies 1 inch apart on the greased cookie sheets and bake for 10 minutes or until the bottoms are golden brown.

When cookies have cooled, dip them into icing (see recipe) and decorate with jimmies or crushed walnuts.
