Sauce -
2 lg. cans crushed tomatoes (28 oz)
2 lg. cans tomato puree (28 oz)
1 can tomato paste (dissolve tomato paste in 28 oz can of water. Add one more 28 oz can of water)
2 tsp. oregano
2 bay leaves
3 tsp. garlic powder
Combine all ingredients and simmer on low 4-5 hours stirring often.

Meatballs -
2 1/2 lbs. ground beef
1 egg
2tsp. garlic powder
1 cup Italian bread crumbs
1/4 cup grated locatelli or Romano cheese
Mix well by hand and roll into balls and add to sauce uncooked. Ladle grease from meat as it rises to the top while it is simmering. Ladle grease off before stirring each time.

The key to the sauce is to cook the meat IN the sauce. You can also add Italian sausage and/or pieces of boneless chicken breast. I always double or triple the amount mentioned and freeze containers for a fast meal at a later date.
