Meatballs:
4 T. pine nuts
1 T. anise
1 onion, finely chopped
1 lb. ground beef
2 T. bread crumbs
3.5 oz. ricotta
3 T. parsley, finely chopped
1 egg
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. paprika
olive oil for cooking

Sauce:
1/2 T. olive oil
1/2 onion, finely chopped
1 (12 oz.) can of tomato sauce
1 T. tomato paste
1 T. Italian herb mix
2 pinches of sugar
1 tsp. salt
a little pepper

Directions:

Grill the pine nuts and anise seeds. Add onion and garlic. Let cool off. In a big bowl, mix meat with all the ingredients up to and including paprika. Mix until it doesn't stick to hands and put in fridge for 15 minutes. Make about 16 balls. Heat oil in pan and cook the meatballs on all sides for about 10 minutes.
For the sauce--cook onions in oil. Add tomatoes and other ingredients. Let cook about 30 minutes. Season and serve the sauce with meatballs.Tastes good with pasta.
