1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 cup boiling water
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
dash of salt

Directions:
In saucepan, mix sugar and cornstarch. Stir in boiling water. Simmer for 5 minutes. Stir in butter, vanilla, and salt. Serve warm.

Add desired amount of rum and/or bourbon in place of water while you are boiling it to remove alcohol content. Deer Hunter's always requested this sauce served over warm Bread Pudding.
