2 lbs. ground lamb or beef
2 onions, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
16 oz. can diced tomatoes
1 1/2 T. sugar
2 T. curry powder (to taste)
2 T. vinegar
salt to taste
2 firm bananas, sliced
1 apple, peeled and diced
1 T. apricot jam
1/4 c. slivered almonds
tomato juice for thining

Directions:
Directions:
Brown meat in a large skillet. Drain off fat. Add all other ingredients. Simmer gently, stirring frequently for about 30 minutes. Add tomato juice to taste if the mixture is too thick. Serve over steamed rice with mango chutney.

Note: I omit the sugar if I add the jam.
