1/3 c. butter
1/2 c. white sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. milk
For the topping:
3/4 c. brown sugar
2 tsp. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
5 tsp. melted butter

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preaheat oven to 375º
2. Cream the 1/3 cup of butter plus the white sugar.
3. Add egg and beat well.
4. Add flour, baking powder, salt, and milk. Spread batter in an 8x9 greased pan.
5. For the topping, combine the brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, walnuts, and melted butter. Spread on top of the cake.
6. Bake 25-35 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out clean.

When I first made this, Mom (Jill) told me that when she used to make it, she'd add more brown sugar then it called for. I'm not sure what difference it makes because I've never made it without using her recommended strategy.
