1 1/2 c sugar
1 c shortening
6 T molasses
3 egg yolks
3 c flour
3 tsp soda
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp ginger
3/4 tsp cloves
1 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream first three ingredients.
Beat in yolks.
Add last remaining ingredients. Make 1" balls, roll in sugar.
Place on greased cookie sheet 2" apart.
Bake 375º for 7 minutes or until large cracks appear.
Makes approx 60 cookies.

Leola Jorgenson shared this wonderful recipe with me. The secret she said was to take out the cookies when the cracks appear so they will remain soft and chewy.
