Directions:Pour oil into a 10" to 12" saucepan. Set on stove cap until you have peeled and washed both potatoes and onion. Pat the potatoes and onion dry before shredding or dicing the onion. Mix the potatoes and onion thoroughly. Place the potatoes and onion into a strainer and drain the excess water, may require some smashing with the hand to get rid of the water. Take the potatoes and onion and place them on a plate, add salt and pepper to taste. Mix again thoroughly. Separate into four round patties. Take a spatula and lift each patty into the hot oil. Allow the patties to cook with a nice golden shield at bottom before turning them over. Turn the patties to your desired look and taste. Remove from heat, serve hot, add ketchup to the top of the patties. The patties may be served plain or with ketchup. |
