CAKE
1 lb. dark brown sugar
1/2 c. margarine
3 eggs
3 squares melted bitter chocolate
2 1/4 c. sifted cake flour
2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
1/2 c. buttermilk (or sour milk, sour cream)
2 t. vanilla extract
1 c. boiling water

ICING (for 9x13" cake)
3/4 lb. confectioner's sugar
3/4 stick soft margarine
2 squares melted chocolate
1 tsp. vanilla
milk to correct consistency

CAKE
Sift together flour, baking soda and salt.
Beat together brown sugar, margarine, eggs and melted chocolate. Add flour in thirds alternating with buttermilk. Add vanilla and boiling water and mix. Bake in 9x13" pan at 350º for 25 minutes. Do not open oven.

ICING
Cream together sugar and margarine. Add chocolate and beat on high. Add a couple tablespoons of milk to correct consistency if needed.
