2 c. sugar
2 heaping T. cocoa OR peanut butter
1/4 c. margarine/butter
1 c. milk
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. oatmeal

Directions:
Directions:
1. Combine sugar, cocoa/peanut butter, margarine/butter, and milk and stir constantly over medium heat. Bring to "softball stage".
2. Remove from heart and add salt, vanilla and oatmeal.
3. Spoon out onto waxed paper to harden.

This is my mother, Lee Slichter's, recipe.
How to know you've reached "softball stage" without a candy thermometer? pour a few drops of mixture into a bowl of lukewarm water, when you can pick it up with your fingers without it separating, you have reached "softball stage".

I think I like peanut butter no-bakes better than chocolate, but both are WONDERFUL!
