1/2 cup butter or vegetable oil,3 large onions, thinly slices,1 1/2 tbsp flour 5 1/2 cups seasoned meat stock, few drops of Tabasco sauce (optional), salt and pepper to taste,6 slices of toast,4 oz grated cheddar cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Fry thinly sliced onions in oil or butter til golden brown. Stir in the flour, add stock & seasonings, simmer for 10 minutes. Pour the soup in individual dishes, lay a slice of toast on top, cover with cheese. Broil 3 to 4 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbles up.
