4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into medium pieces, 1/2 pound cabbage, chopped, 1 medium turnip, finely chopped, 2 large carrots, chopped, 1 medium onion, chopped, 1 tbsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper, 1/4 cup rice, 7 cups water, 2 cups beef bouillon, 1 tbsp butter or margarine, 2 tbsp minced parsley, 2 tbsp fresh dill, sour cream (optional)

Combine potatoes, cabbage, turnip, carrots, onion seasonings and water in large saucepan. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours or until tender. Drain. Press vegetables through a fine sieve, Cook rice in bouillon until tender. Add to pureed vegetables. Stir in butter, parsley and dill. If mixture is too thick, add boiling water ( about 1 1/2 cups) to the desired consistency. Heat. Tope each serving with sour cream.
