1 cup milk, 4 tbsp shortening, 2 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp salt, 1 yeast cake or 1 yeast package,1/4 cup lukewarm water, 1 egg, 3 1/2 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Scald milk. Measure shortening, sugar, and salt into mixing bowl. Pour scalded milk over these ingredients. Stir to mix. Cool. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. When milk mixture has cooled ass 1 egg beaten. Add dissolved yeast. Add flour. Stir well after addition of each cupful. Beat together about 60 strokes.Turn into greased bowl. Cover bowl. Allow to rise for 2 hours or until dough is doubled in bulk. Make into rolls and put in greased muffin tins. Let rise about 3/4 hour or until doubled in bulk. Bake at 400º for 20 minutes
