Ingredients:
Ingredients:
Dough:
1/2 c sugar
1/2 c butter or margarine
3/4 c milk
1 pkg (1/4 oz) active dry yeast
4 1/2 to 4 3/4 cups flour
3 eggs
1/2 tsp salt
1 Tbsp grated lemon peel
1 tsp vanilla

Filling:
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 tsp ground cloves

Glaze:
1/2 c sugar
1/2 c sour cream
1/4 c butter or margarine
2 Tbsp lemon juice

Directions:
Directions:
In a small saucepan combine the sugar, butter and milk for the dough. Cook over medium heat until butter is melted. (Can also do this in the microwave.) Pour into large mixing bowl; cool to warm (105º to 115º). Stir in the yeast until dissolved. Add 3 cups of the flour and stir until well mixed. Stir in remaining flour 1/2 cup at a time until soft dough forms. (May not need all the flour.). Turn onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, turning ball of dough until greased side is up. Cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size. This will take 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Dough is ready if you poke it with a finger and the indentation stays. Punch down the dough and let it rest for 10 minutes. On a floured surface, roll out the dough in an 18 inch circle if making the daisy. If you want braids, divide the dough into two equal parts and roll each into a long rectangle.

Spread with the butter for the filling and sprinkle with the cloves. To make the daisy, set a drinking glass in the middle of the dough. Cut spokes outward from the edge of the glass to the edge of the dough. Twist each section and coil back toward the glass. Use the last coil and pile in the middle for the daisy center. Place on a large greased cookie sheet or pizza pan. If making a braid/twist, cut each rectangle into three strips from one length to the other. Braid dough together and seal ends. Place each braid on a cookie sheet.

Cover dough and let rise again for about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Do not overbake or the bread will be dry!

Make glaze to pour over warm bread:
Combine all glaze ingredients in a saucepan, stirring occasionally until mixture comes to a full boil. Pour glaze all over bread.

Personal Notes:
My family loves this bread. The glaze is the best part. In fact I use this glaze for cakes and other things. I think this would be good to make cinnamon type rolls also. The lemon and cloves taste is good and unique.
