1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp soda
Date filling (see Date squares for recipe)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º. Mix all ingredients and chill 1 hour. Roll out and cut into 3" circles. Add 1 tbsp filling, fold over and seal edges. Brush with milk and sprinkle with sugar. Bake for 10 minutes.
