Ingredients:
Ingredients:
Pastry for 2 crust Pie
6 - 8 apples, sliced
1 cup sugar (I use brown and white)
1/4 cup flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp butter or margarine

Crumb crust topping:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup firm butter or margarine
1/2 cup brown sugar - packed

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat over to 425º. Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt, and mix in with sliced apples. Sprinkle 1 tbsp brown sugar in bottom of pastry shell (Optional) and add apple mixture. Dot with butter and cover with top crust. Bake for 50 minutes, or until nicely browned.

Instead of using top crust - try CRUMB crust topping:
Mix flour, sugar and butter together until crumbly. Omit dotting pie with butter and pour crumb mixture on top of apples. Bake for 50 minutes, covering top of pie with foil during last 10 minutes if top browns too quickly. Best served warm.
