1 1/4 cup boiling water
1 cup quick oats
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs (beaten)
1 1/3 cup flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
6 T. butter, melted
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup evaporated milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup coconut

Pour boiling water over quick oats and let stand 20 minutes. Cream shortening, sugar, and eggs. Add oats mixture. Sift flour, cinnamon, soda and salt. Then add to oats mixture. Pour into 9 x 13 greased pan. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes. While cake is warm, mix frosting and boil till light brown. Then spread on cake.
