Cinnamon Rolls (Lois Edwards Westervelt) Recipe

1 pkg. yeast
1/4 c. warm water
2 T. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. oleo
1 c. scalded milk
1 egg
2 1/2 to 3 1/2 c. flour
1 stick butter
1 c. raisins
1 c. brown sugar
2 T. cinnamon

Soften yeast in the warm water. Add sugar and shortening to scalded milk; stir until cooled to luke warm. Beat in 1 1/2 c. flour. Stir in eggs and yeast. Beat well. Add remaining flour; let rise till double in size. Roll out dough into rough rectangle and cover with filling. Roll up dough, jelly roll style. Cut in 1 inch slices and place in baking pan. Cook for 20 to 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
