2 cups brown sugar (packed)
3 cups water
1tsp nutmeg
1 heaping tbsp butter

Directions:
Directions:
Combine brown sugar, water and nutmeg in a saucepan and bring to a boil. When hot, add butter.

Thicken as desired using corn starch.

Rye or Rum can be added here to taste if desired.

This was my grandma's recipe for Christmas Sauce that she made every year to serve on the plum pudding or mince pie. It's also excellent on ice cream and is good even without the liquor. Roy and I liked to eat it in a bowl just like pudding.
