3 lbs spareribs
2 cups water
1/3 c tomato paste
1 onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, crushed
2 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp white vinegar
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp chili powder

Directions:
Heat oven to 450º. Cut strips into 3 rib sections. Put them on rack in broiler pan. Roast 30 min. Remove from oven and turn down heat to 350º. Combine remaining ingredients in sauce pan and bring to boil while ribs are browning. Put ribs in large baking dish 13 X 9 1/2 X 2. Pour mixture over. Cover with foil and bake 60 min. Uncover, turn ribs and bake for additional 30 min.

* instead of roasting initially you can boil the ribs first and then continue with adding sauce mixture.
