3/4 c. shortening
1 c light brown sugar (packed)
1 egg
1/4 c Molasses
2 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º
Mix shortening, sugar,egg,and molasses. Stir in remaining ingredients. Chill dough slightly. Roll dough into walnut size pieces. (I use a small ice cream scoop. Do not roll out smooth, I leave the cracks in the dough then I roll it in sugar. This will give you nice cracks on the top)
Bake for 9 minutes. This will give you a soft and chewy inside.
