2 cups packed basil(4 plants)
1/2 cup olive oil
3 tablespoons pine nuts
2 garlic cloves(chopped fine before processing)
1/2 cup parmigiano-reggianno cheese/Parmesan, grated
3 tablespoons butter

Directions:
Directions:
Put first four ingredients in food processor and blend until creamy.Add cheese by hand. Mix in softened butter.

Use sparingly.
The Italians have birthright to this savory green sauce that is generally made with bits of basil, garlic, salt, Parmesan cheese, pine nuts (can be omitted if you have a nut allergy) and olive oil. Not only is pesto healthy, but it also has endless uses.

Spoon finished pesto into an ice cube tray. Use a frozen cube of pesto for every one tablespoon in a recipe.
