2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon Rumford baking powder
3/4 cup shortening
1 egg yolk
ice water

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together the flour, salt and baking powder; then cream the shortening in a bowl as for cake, As soon as it is light and creamy, add the sifted flour, mixing it in with a knife, not touching with the hands. Beat the yolk of egg, and add a little ice water to it just enough to moisten the pastry - probably 2 tablespoons. Use no more than needed to make a firm dough. Roll at once on a floured board, Bake in hot oven 475º about 10 to 12 minutes.
