• 1 lb ground beef
• 1 large egg
• 1 medium onion
• 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1 teaspoon kosher salt
• 1 teaspoon black pepper
• 12 slices white bread
• 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
• 12 slices American cheese

1. 1 Grate half the onion and thinly slice theother.
2. 2 in a big bowl combine meat, egg, and spices
3. 3 shape into thin patties.
4. 4 spread butter on each side of the bread.
5. 5 in a skillet cook bread 3 minutes on each side.
6. 6 cook the burgers and drain the grease from skillet.
7. 7 blot off extra grease with paper towels.
8. 8 top each burger with a slice of cheese.
9. 9 put pattys on bread and top with thinly sliced onion.
