"The tradition of Italian cooking is that of the matriarch. This is the cooking of grandma. She didn't waste time thinking too much about the celery. She got the best celery she could and then she dealt with it."--Mario Batali

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 pound frozen broccoli - could use fresh
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
5 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 pound penne pasta
1/2 cup Parmigianino Reggiano cheese - we use Parmesan cheese
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
salt and pepper to taste
sausage - we use the Amylu apple & gouda cheese chicken sausage from Costco

Directions:
Directions:
Cut up sausage into bite size pieces (the sausage we use is fully cooked) If you use another kind of sausage, cook it before proceeding with recipe. Steam broccoli until just tender. Boil noodles according to directions on package.
Heat olive oil in deep skillet over medium heat. Add garlic. When garlic speaks by sizzling in oil, add broccoli and saute 1 to 2 minutes. Add pasta and sausage and saute 1 to 2 minutes. Add salt, pepper, nutmeg and cheese. Transfer to serving dish.

**I sometimes prepare the noodles, broccoli, sausage and garlic several hours ahead of meal preparation. All that is left is to saute - only about 5 to 10 minutes and it is done.
